Harley-Davidson Inc. reported third quarter net income of $183.6 million (78 cents/share), a 95.9% rise compared to the same period last year, when net earnings came in at $93.7 million (40 cents/share). Revenue rose to $1.23 billion, compared to $1.09 billion a year earlier. Third quarter retail sales of Harley-Davidson motorcycles rose 5.4% in the U.S., and 5.1% worldwide. The Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer experienced a 63.5% increase in income from continuing operations over the first nine months of the year, to $493.4 million ($2.09/share).
