Luna’s Groceries has decided to withdraw from a Park Street Truman Olson development aimed at eliminating food disparities in the south Madison community, according to a statement from the city of Madison. Mariam Maldonado of Luna’s Groceries stated that as plans developed for the store, it became clear it would be challenging to accomplish Luna’s vision “on this scale and in this timeframe.” The city is now again looking for a grocery partner for the project with the goal that whatever is built succeeds in the long run. The city will be reaching out to grocers who have previously expressed interest in this project.
