The Greywolf Foundation announced in a recent press release its third annual partnership with Park Vista Senior Housing Management (PVSHM) for the Oppose Alzheimer’s Initiative. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the two organizations to raise awareness of the challenges related with Alzheimer’s disease and associated dementia while also raising funds for the treatment, care, and research opportunities which are combating this disease.
Last year, the Oppose Alzheimer’s Initiative fundraising efforts generated more than $24,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association of Wisconsin. This year the goal is to exceed that amount and be able to donate closer to $30,000.
The organizations are also sponsors for multiple upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s events put on by the Alzheimer’s Association. These sponsorship-supported walks are held during September and October and include the following Wisconsin communities: Steven’s Point on Saturday, Sept. 16; Milwaukee on Sunday, Sept. 17; Madison on Sunday, Oct. 1; and Appleton on Sunday, Oct. 8.
Additionally, the teams will participate in Clinton, Iowa on Sept. 23 and East Moline, Illinois on Oct. 7. Teams are now forming for all of these locations and support can be given via the local team’s website.
In addition to the participation of the walks, the staff, residents, family, and friends from six different PVSHM facilities are raising money and awareness of the Oppose Alzheimer’s Initiative though various activities throughout the year. The participating facilities include Noel Manor of Verona, Legacy of Deforest, Park Vista Retirement Living of Waupaca, Willow Lane Assisted Living of Appleton, Park Vista North Hill of East Moline, Illinois, and Park Vista Retirement Living of Camanche, Iowa.
Events vary from site to site but include an ice cream social, a corn and pig roast with raffle baskets, a craft and vendor show, bingo, and other activities.
Locally, Noel Manor and the Legacy at Noel Manor will be hosting the Summer Festival on Aug. 11 and bingo on Sept. 13.
Along with the on-site activities to raise funds, BB Jack’s of Cottage Grove has chosen the Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter as the beneficiary of its monthly Pizza with a Purpose Program this August. During the entire month, the restaurant helps support a community partner and donates $5 from every “Pizza of the Week” that is sold.
Individuals and businesses who wish to support the Oppose Alzheimer’s Initiative can make a gift on the Greywolf Foundation website, noting Oppose Alzheimer’s in the “Purpose for Gift” section.
