The Madison Region Economic Partnership and Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce announced a new collaboration on Friday to bolster economic growth and opportunities in the area.
MadREP is now directly aligned with the Madison chamber. The chamber will assume the work of MadREP, which will transfer its regional economic development responsibilities to the chamber as a way to unify structure and accelerate growth and opportunities across southcentral Wisconsin.
“This transition reflects our shared belief that the region is stronger when we work together,” MadREP board chair Jason Vangalis said in a statement. “MadREP’s foundation of collaboration and partnership has positioned the region for success, and this move ensures that work continues with even greater capacity.”
GMCC will assume regional economic development responsibility immediately. Early next year, the Chamber will partner with public- and private-sector leaders to focus on a regional strategy that builds on MadREP’s work.
“This is a natural evolution built on years of partnership,” GMCC President Zach Brandon said in a statement. “Integrating MadREP’s work with the region’s largest business association will create a customer-centric approach to increase opportunities and ensure our current growth translates into lasting regional benefits.”
