Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corp. awards $1 million in grants for local programs

Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corp. awarded more than $1 million in College Ready grants to programs in Dane County that serve students from low-income households, students of color, and students who will the first in their families to attend college.

The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County received a total of $645,000 for three programs: College Club, Teens of Promise, and Verona High School College Club.

Edgewood College received $40,294 for two programs, Committed to College and LEAP 2 College.

Forward Service Corp. received $137,756 for its Upward Bound College Prep and Tutoring program; UW-Madison was awarded $66,099 for its Odyssey Project; the Urban League of Greater Madison received $179,300 toward its Scholars Academy; and the Vera Court Neighborhood Center received $37,642 for tutoring sixth- through ninth-grade students.
