The River Food Pantry has received $422,500 — its largest grant ever — from the Inland Empire Community Foundation to increase access to fresh, healthy produce for Dane County households facing food insecurity.

According to a release from the organization, The River will use the funding to purchase additional fresh fruits and vegetables for all the organization’s free programs, including curbside groceries, to-go meals, mobile lunches, and grocery delivery. The River’s upcoming online marketplace, launching later this spring, will allow clients to select the produce items they need.
