Gov. Tony Evers is celebrating the state’s dairy industry in June by thanking dairy farmers and highlighting the industry’s importance to the state.
Throughout the month of June, Evers will visit dairy farmers, processors, producers and agricultural leaders to celebrate the industry, which contributes$52.8 billion annually to Wisconsin’s economy.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Wisconsin is home to about 1.3 million dairy cows and more than 5,000 dairy farms.
“We’re going to keep working every day to ensure our farmers, producers and processors have the support they need to be successful and to ensure Wisconsin stays on top as “America’s Dairyland,” Evers said in a statement.
