After meetings with city planners, neighborhood representatives, and Mayor Paul Soglin’s office, Gorman & Co. completely changed its vision for Union Corners, an 11.5-acre vacant parcel of land at East Washington Avenue and Milwaukee Street in Madison.

A $20 million UW Health clinic has been moved to the corner of East Washington Avenue and Sixth Street, the height of two apartment buildings has been lowered, two mixed-use buildings of up to six stories each have been added where the clinic was originally located, and surface parking has been relocated behind building structures to make it less visible to passersby. The latest reaction from neighbors has been mostly positive, according to a report in Isthmus.

Gorman & Co. will present the revised plan to the Madison Plan Commission on May 12. If the project receives all the necessary approvals, it could break ground in the fall.
