A new report projects that hospitals in Wisconsin will lose $264.6 million a year because of a Republican budget bill.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin voted against the bill, which she said will terminate health care for hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites, increase costs for working families and jeopardize the ability of hospitals and clinics to remain open.

The Republicans’ bill, supported by every Congressional Republican from Wisconsin, is anticipated to terminate health care for 17 million Americans, including 270,000 Wisconsinites.

Across the country, one-fifth of total spending on hospital care comes from Medicaid. Over 300 rural hospitals are at disproportionate risk of closure, conversion, or service reductions due to health care cuts in the bill, including three in Wisconsin.
