Google corporate parent Alphabet announced an agreement on Monday to purchase data center energy specialist Intersect for $4.75 billion, the Associated Press reports.
The move was made to secure the electricity needed to power AI technology.
Alphabet originally bought a stake in Intersect a year ago.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first half of next year, and Alphabet will allow San-Francisco-based Intersect to operate independently.
