Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin has reportedly agreed to lease 22,000 square feet of a long-vacant, former Kohl’s store at 2901 N. Sherman Ave. for a new retail store, donation center, and community room/polling place.
According to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal, Goodwill has approached the city’s Urban Design Commission with an offer to spend $1 million on renovations and upgrades to the space in the Northside Town Center, including the addition of a canopy over a donation drop-off area. The Kohl’s store closed in 2003.
Last year, the Willy Street Co-op opened a new location in the shopping center, replacing the former Pierce’s North Side Market.
