According to CNBC, this is a record-breaking run as gold represents a safety net in a time of global economic turmoil and geopolitical tensions.
U.S. gold futures for February rose 2.1% to $5,087.
Silver is also doing well thanks to industrial demand, with prices at $108 per ounce on Tuesday afternoon.
