Globe University shut down its operations in Wisconsin and South Dakota operations on Dec. 31 according to its website. The school will transfer the administration of those campuses to Utah-based Broadview University. Students can finish their program at the current campus or online through an agreement with Broadview.
In 2014, the Minnesota attorney general filed a suit charging that Globe University and the Minnesota School of Business (MSB) misled students. All but one claim was found to be unsubstantiated, yet the Minnesota Office of Higher Education revoked Globe University and MSB’s registration to operate in that state in September, a decision that is still being appealed. Then, in December, the U.S. Dept. of Education decided to deny Globe’s and MSB participation in the Title IV student financial aid program, sparking a move toward teach-out arrangements and transfer agreements with other universities. The schools plan to appeal, but admit they’ve run into more barriers than success.
As reported in IB’s Book of Lists in December, Globe University’s Madison operation enrolled 255 students.
