Although it’s still a little way off, nonprofits are gearing up for GivingTuesday, according to the Associated Press. Since it started as a hashtag in 2012, GivingTuesday, which occurs on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, has become one of the largest fundraising days of the year for nonprofits in the U.S.

In 2022 and 2023, GivingTuesday raised $3.1 billion for charitable organizations, according to estimates from the nonprofit organization GivingTuesday, which researches topics on everyday giving, collecting data from a wide range of sources like payment processors, crowdfunding sites, employee giving software, and institutions that offer donor-advised funds, a kind of charitable giving account.

For nonprofits, GivingTuesday is a way to raise money and engage supporters. This year, GivingTuesday will take place on Dec. 3.
