Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC–SCW) introduced its Autism Spectrum Treatment Program, an initiative supporting children ages 6–16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), along with their parents or adult caregivers. It is structured to take place within the environment of the children’s homes, employing science-based methods to help them and their families gain confidence and develop lifelong skills.
In addition to home-based care, key components of the program include:

An inclusive approach, involving both children and their caregiving adults, focusing on social and emotional skill building for children and guidance for families; and

A structured format, with the program spanning up to 16 weeks of weekly sessions.
Currently, the Autism Spectrum Treatment program is available to children with a formal ASD medical diagnosis who are verbal, reside in Dane County, and are covered under an active GHC–SCW HMO insurance plan. Adult caregivers of eligible children should contact their primary care provider to see if this program is right for their child. A referral from a primary care provider and prior authorization from insurance are required for any Autism Spectrum-related services.
