Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin claims the federal government shutdown has prevented a union election for its health workers, according to the Cap Times.

Employees, who are pushing for collective bargaining power and began the union campaign 10 months ago, say the Madison-based clinic network wants to block the union effort.

Previously, workers have claimed GHC management has led union-busting efforts and performed unfair labor practices.

GHC counters that it is not against the union, but would like more workers to qualify for the bargaining.
