Longtime Madison business George’s Flowers will close at 2 p.m. on May 10, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The news comes after 41 years of operation.
The floral shop at 421 S. Park St. was opened by George Choles and his wife, Nia, in 1984. Both passed away last year. Two of their children, Denise George Schulz and Conn Choles, took over running the business roughly 16 years ago but are now planning to retire from it. They say they still own the property and will lease it to another business.
The business will maintain its regular hours until just before the closure, open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and will have special open hours on Saturday, May 10 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
