According to a story in the Milwaukee Business Journal, GE Healthcare, the largest high-tech employer in southeast Wisconsin, may be relocating to Chicago if General Electric moves forward with plans to spin it off into a stand-alone company.
GE Healthcare, already headquartered in the Windy City, employs about 6,000 in the Milwaukee area and also has a plant in Madison with about 550 employees, according to In Business’ 2018 Book of Lists, where it was ranked the 24th largest company in Dane County. The spinoff could occur within 12–18 months.
