The capital campaign to raise funding for the Center for Black Excellence and Culture is underway, according to a Capital Times report. The $20 million center designed by JLA Architects has been proposed for the 700 block of West Badger Road on the south side of Madison. The new campaign will initially focus on raising funds from members of the Black community with a goal of raising $50,000 by Oct. 15. The campaign has raised nearly $7,500 from Black residents thus far. After Oct. 15, the campaign will shift into a larger, public fundraising campaign. The Center for Black Excellence and Culture aims to be a place where Black residents can enjoy Black culture, make connections, and build leadership and business skills.
