Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison, a 501(c)3 charitable organization that annually provides 2,000 free bikes to those in need through its bike giveaway program, has announced a new name and enhanced mission. The organization will now be known as Bikes for Kids Wisconsin. Bikes for Kids Wisconsin is also expanding its mission from the stand-alone bike giveaway program to increasing bicycle-based transportation for everyone through access, low-cost sales and service, and education.
Bikes for Kids Wisconsin started offering low-cost service and sales at its bike shop this past summer to help bike recipients keep their bikes rolling. The organization also began selling high-end road bikes to the public that aren’t suitable for their bike recipients’ needs as a way to fund its bike giveaway program.
