The coed professional chemistry fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma is proposing the demolition of two former fraternity houses in poor condition to accommodate the building of a large apartment project, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

The three-story buildings at 619 and 621 N. Lake St. are over a century old and in the Langdon Street National Register Historic District. They would be replaced by an eight-story structure that would provide first-floor living, a study area, meeting spaces, and 15 bedrooms for the fraternity. It would be topped by six floors with 18 apartments.
