Foxconn announced today that it plans to build three assembly plants in Wisconsin next year as part of a $10 billion project it previously said would open in 2020, provided the state produces a large package of tax incentives, according the Wisconsin State Journal.

The Taiwan-based electronics company did not disclose how many workers it could hire next year, but did note that the initial investment for the assembly plants would be less than $1 billion.

Foxconn’s plans still call for the centerpiece LCD screen plant to open in three or four years; however, the plans are contingent on a $3 billion tax subsidies package and exemptions from environmental regulations passing the state Legislature.

The state Assembly approved the incentives package Aug. 17, but state Senate leaders have said they still have questions about the proposal.
