Oregon’s Foxboro Golf Club owner and developer Glenn Hofer is putting plans to build housing at the golf course on hold after public outcry, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
Hofer told residents in the Autumn Ridge neighborhood he was planning to build homes on the west side of the course and shrink the course from 18 to 12 holes.
Hofer said he leases the golf course and that it needs $1.5 million in improvements, including a new irrigation system.
However, over 150 residents signed a petition against the proposal. Hofer decided to pause the project amid the opposition.
In order to make changes to the area, Hofer will need approval from 75% of the village board and a majority of residents living near the golf course.
