According to recent U.S. Census Bureau data, four of Wisconsin’s 10 largest growing cities between 2013–2014 are located in Dane County — Fitchburg, Sun Prairie, Verona, and Monona.
Among the state’s 597 incorporated municipalities, Shorewood Hills had the highest percentage growth in 2014, making it the second consecutive year the village topped the list.
As a whole, Dane County was third among the 72 Wisconsin counties in percentage of population growth from 2013–2014, adding 1.23% to reach 516,284.
During the 2013–2014 period, the City of Madison added 2,479 residents, representing 1% growth and nudging the city’s population to 245,691, good enough to rank it 16th among Wisconsin’s 196 cities and fifth among Dane County cities.
