Madison physician-turned-entrepreneur Dr. Ronak Mehta, the founder of Nerbugs, was named among Inc.’s Female Founders 500, Madison365 reports. The list recognizes women entrepreneurs with high-impact ventures in advertising, education, engineering, health, financial services, retail and other industries.
Nerdbugs sells plushie organs inspired by a children’s book Mehta wrote while in medical school that makes complex medical concepts approachable for children. The company partnered with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Community Impact Project in 2023 to donate plushies to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Nerdbugs later continued with donation efforts at children’s hospitals in Denver, Cincinnati and Washington, D.C.
