Former U.S. Surgeon General says 25% of workers are lonely

COVID-19 has brought its own set of challenges for connecting in the workplace, but even before the pandemic, former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy says upwards of 25% of people struggle with loneliness in the workplace, according to a Wisbusiness.com story.

As engagement at work drops, productivity and creativity can decline, Murthy noted at a fireside chat that headlined the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce’s sixth annual IceBreaker program. He suggested businesses create opportunities for employees to understand each other beyond work skills.
