Former Super 8 transformed into affordable housing

A new housing facility is now complete on Madison’s east side. Sandburg Studios, a former Super 8 motel, has been transformed into 129 studio apartments. 

The new building will open to the public on June 1.The project aims to provide a privately funded solution to the housing shortage, offering affordable units without government funding or tenant income restrictions.

The building includes amenities such as a pool, fitness center, pet friendly features and outdoor community space. Rents  range from $975 to $1,125 per month, compared to Madison’s $1,600 average rent, according to real estate group CoStar.
