Shonn Northam of Briggsville, a former customer service representative for Spectrum Brands, was indicted by federal prosecutors for bilking the company of $280,644 between February 2013 and November 2014, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.

Northam has been charged with mail fraud, wire fraud, and money-laundering charges as well as eight identity-theft charges.

Northam, founder of U.S. Proud, a beauty pageant for the LGBT community, falsely claimed Spectrum Brands was a financial supporter of the national organization. As an employee in Spectrum’s small appliance division handling product warranty claims, he also falsified Spectrum documents to generate false warranty claim checks, which he deposited into his own bank accounts.
