Roo’s Kitchen, a new multiuse kitchen and events space, has moved into the former Cafe La Bellitalia spot at 1026 N. Sherman Ave., according to Madison Magazine. The latter business closed last fall after 19 years in business.
Led by partners Emily Julka and Ben Hunter — part of the This is All Fabulous culinary collective, which caters for pop-ups and other events — Roo’s Kitchen is aiming to build community on Madison’s north side and provide a creative space for culinary professionals. This is All Fabulous will be a primary tenant at Roo’s, as will Wisconsin Meat Collective, with Anna Gilberts providing instruction in butchery and meat handling.
Soil Circle and a few other local food businesses have also signed on to operate in the space. After a clean-up and renovation of the dining room at Roo’s Kitchen, This is All Fabulous plans to host regular prepared food pick-ups and community meals.
