A federal appeals court ruled in favor of David Weimert, former vice president of AnchorBank, overturning a 2015 fraud conviction and ordering his release from prison.
Weimert had been charged with five counts of wire fraud related to the bank’s interest in a 2009 Texas real estate deal and had been serving a 18-month sentence.
The court ruled that while he was not completely honest about what transpired, his actions did not constitute a crime.
