Cushman and Wakefield, along with Cushman and Wakefield | Boerke, have announced the sale of the former Mattel space on a Middleton campus and the creation of hundreds of jobs. The news follows the loss in recent years of over 55 jobs due to the closure of American Girl.
Cushman and Wakefield in mid-2021 presented a proposal to secure the disposition task for Mattel. The company had been established on the over 524,000-square-foot campus since 1989.
In early May 2022, SARA Investment Real Estate acquired the facility for a total of $24.9 million. The facility was leased to four regional and national industrial users — Quest-ProMach, Plastic Ingenuity, and an undisclosed tenant — creating several hundred community employment opportunities.
Ten months after closing, the fully-leased campus was sold again. The purchaser, General Capital Group, acquired the former American Girl campus for $43.5 million.
