Madison-based FluGen, which is developing a new type of influenza vaccine, is beginning phase I clinical trials of 96 healthy adults in Kansas City.

The company’s vaccine, named RedeeFlu, is sprayed into the nose and could provide protection against many strains of flu.

The trial should be completed by the end of the year.
