FluGen gets $9.4M for trial of universal flu vaccine

Madison-based biotech startup FluGen recently raised $9.4 million, which it plans to use to begin clinical trials on humans for its vaccine candidate that’s designed to protect against multiple types of influenza.

In May 2014, FluGen closed another round of financing, raising $3.4 million.

The four funds that participated in the most recent round were Madison-based Venture Investors, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, and Knox, a private fund on the East Coast.
