The federal government shutdown has caused numerous flight cancellations and delays, and although a deal has been made to pursue reopening the U.S. government, the Associated Press reports the issues could linger after the government shutdown.
Thousands of flights were canceled over the weekend, with air traffic controllers not showing up for work as they take second jobs to make ends meet. The air traffic controllers have not been paid for nearly a month.
The Senate began the process of reopening the federal government on Sunday, but it could take several days for it to reopen.
Airlines canceled 1,600 flights on Monday and almost 1,000 on Tuesday.
