Wheel & Sprocket announced it will close its Fitchburg bike shop just two years after opening, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The company said the store at 2970 Cahill Main in the Hatchery Hill Shopping Center will close at the end of September, citing a downturn in the bike industry and consequent lagging sales and bloated inventory.

The company has 11 locations, primarily in the Milwaukee area. Its University Avenue store in Middleton will remain open to provide service and honor all gift cards, service plans, and warranties.

The Fitchburg location will reduce its hours starting Sunday. It will be open Wednesdays–Fridays from noon–7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
