Fitchburg startup JangoBio has begun testing tissue clusters for hormone treatments in pets and people, according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal.
Based on research by a UW gerontologist, the three-dimensional tissue clusters are derived from stem cells and can produce ovarian and testicular hormones.
The company is testing the tissue clusters in rats and dogs with the hope they can someday replace hormone-producing tissues and reverse the natural decline of sex hormones from aging.
