Although negotiations between the City of Madison and JDS Development continue as the two sides get closer to finalizing a plan to move Exact Sciences’ headquarters to downtown Madison as the centerpiece of Judge Doyle Square project, Fitchburg is pitching its own plan just in case the Madison arrangement falls apart.

According to a plan put forth by three Fitchburg City Council members, preparations could be made so that Exact Sciences could break ground as soon as next month on a new headquarters in the Uptown Neighborhood near the intersection of Highway 14 and Lacy Road.

Madison’s talks with Exact Sciences continue as the tight Sept. 1 deadline for a finalized agreement set by Exact Sciences looms.

Exact Sciences CEO Kevin Conroy told the Wisconsin State Journal the company needs to keep its options open and consider alternate sites, just in case the Judge Doyle Square proposal doesn’t pan out.
