The City of Fitchburg breaks ground Friday on its new East Fire Station at 2950 South Syene Road, which should be completed a year from now. It will also include EMS and ambulances, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The city’s West Station at 2931 Marketplace Drive was completed last summer.

The new stations will replace Fitchburg’s station at 5415 King James Way and one at 5791 Lacy Road (which will become an administrative office for the department). The stations are being relocated to provide better and faster service to the growing area.

The new east station will help service the Town of Madison when it is dissolved in 2022 and absorbed by both Fitchburg and Madison.
