Fitchburg Chamber announces Bike the ‘Burg

The Fitchburg Chamber Visitor & Business Bureau’s 2026 Bike The ‘Burg Challenge will take place from April through September.  

It asks participants to bike 150 miles (riders are on the honor system)There are also group rides scheduled.  

The event, which began in 2021, is free, and participants are entered in drawings to win prizes from local businesses  

“The ‘Burg’ is a wonderful place to ride, and we are so fortunate to have this great infrastructure,” Thad Schumacher, owner of Fitchburg Family Pharmacy, one of the event’s sponsors, said in a statement. “We know the important role exercising plays for your health and since cycling is one of my passions, it is natural for us to sponsor this great event.” 

Fitchburg will also host the Brewery Ride on June 6. It is an 18-mile trek through the city with stops at local breweries.    

This year, the ‘Burg will partner with local nonprofit Cycling Without Age-Fitchburg Chapter. Proceeds from sales of the commemorative 2026 Bike the ‘Burg T-shirt and brewery ride will go to the organization, which provides bicycle rides to those who cannot ride a bicycle on their own
