Fitchburg’s Benvenuto’s Italian Grill closed Tuesday after 20 years in business, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. Owner Brian Dominick said that, in the current economy, large restaurants don’t work for his concept.
Dominick plans to keep the smaller Middleton location of Benvenuto’s at 1109 Fourier Drive — roughly half the size of the 12,000-square-foot Fitchburg restaurant — as well as its Fond du Lac, Wausau, and Beaver Dam locations. He said he will continue expanding his company with smaller restaurants.
Dominick cited rising labor, product, and utility costs over the past five years in his decision to close the Fitchburg restaurant.
