In a move to modernize, the AMC Star Fitchburg 18 theater is in the process of renovating all of its auditoriums, with the exception of the IMAX Experience.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports the remodeled theaters will all feature power reclining seats, new screens, and revamped sound systems. New paint and carpet, and renovated restrooms, are also on the docket. More than half of the seating capacity will be removed in the renovation but attendance isn’t expected to suffer, as moviegoers will be able to enjoy the improved amenities.
Of the theater’s 18 auditoriums, seven are currently closed for renovations and are scheduled to reopen in mid-October. Another five are slated for renovation in October that will be complete by Thanksgiving, and the remaining four theaters undergoing a facelift will be complete by the end of this year or early next year.
The theater has also applied for a liquor license from the City of Fitchburg and, if approved, would add AMC’s MacGuffin’s bar concept to the facility at 6091 McKee Road.
