Fiskars, a global supplier of consumer products, announced plans to build a new facility in Dane County that could create about 55 new jobs when completed in the fall of 2016.
The $26.3 million project means Fiskars’ current location on Madison’s east side will be vacated when the company relocates to Middleton, where an exact location has yet to be named.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. also authorized up to $800,000 in state tax credits through 2018 as part of the deal. Middleton has also agreed to provide $3.15 million in TIF assistance to develop the site, according to a release.
The new, 108,000-square-foot building will accommodate up to 400 employees and will be the company’s headquarters for its North, Central, and South American operations. Fiskars is based in Finland.
