An early morning fire that erupted around 4 a.m. today on Madison’s east side has been put out, according to NBC15, but firefighters remained on the scene, and area traffic could see delays.
Flames were seen coming through the roof of a business in the 1300 block of Mendota Street this morning. The road was shut down between East Washington Avenue and Sycamore Avenue and was expected to remain closed well into the morning. The fire also shut down an entrance to the nearby Hy-Vee store.
The fire department has also said those who live in the area could see their water service affected due to the amount of water used to douse the flames.
