A fire at Wisconsin’s popular tourist attraction, House on the Rock, was swiftly contained on Friday, though the cause remains unknown, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
Around 10 a.m., workers at the site, renowned for its exotic and unusual displays, discovered a fire in a room housing a collection of circus memorabilia and scale models.
Located along Highway 23 between Dodgeville and Spring Green, the attraction was open, but visitors had not yet reached the affected area.
The attraction is divided into three main sections. The fire damaged a portion of a circus bandwagon display created by the staff at House on the Rock, which is not an historical artifact.
The fire did not impact one of the most famous pieces at House on the Rock, the massive carousel, which is the largest in the world. Added in 1981, it boasts 269 animals, 20,000 lights, and 182 chandeliers and is located in section two of the attraction.
There was some smoke damage to the display area in section three, and it is currently unclear when this part of the attraction will reopen.
