More than 80 fire departments battled a blaze last week at Burlington’s Echo Lake Foods egg processing plant, one of the town’s largest employers. Most of the 70,000-sq.-ft. plant was reduced to rubble, affecting about 300 jobs. Thankfully, there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Burlington’s mayor said he hopes to rebuild the facility, but company officials have yet to comment.
