The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Summit Credit Union and the Black Men Coalition of Dane County to offer financial literacy education in the Dane County Jail. The six-week program provides information on financial basics like budgeting, banking services, emergency savings, and establishing credit.

Seven residents participated in the inaugural program. Upon completion, each person will receive a certificate and a check for $240 to begin putting their knowledge to work. The funds are provided through a Black Men Coalition of Dane County grant.
