The University of Wisconsin’s Filipino language program will no longer be offered beginning in fall 2026, according to the Badger Herald.
The program fell victim to federal funding cuts by President Donald Trump, mostly due to the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education’s International and Foreign Language Education program.
Title VI funding is used to support foreign language programs.
The Filipinx American Student Organization is searching for ways to save the program like financial support through donors and fundraising.
