Fierce labor market may be contributing to declining college enrollment

Two-year campuses and technical colleges have seen big drops in enrollment and an active labor market may be the reason, according to a report from Wisconsin Public Radio. Enrollment at Wisconsin’s 13 two-year branch campuses has fallen by nearly 57%, or around 7,400 students, since 2010. Branch institutions have seen the sharpest declines, although some universities like UW–River Falls, UW–Stevens Point, and UW–Milwaukee have seen enrollment declines between around 21% and 26% in the last 10 years.
