The state’s largest business lobby is opposing a bill aimed at banning research on tissue from aborted fetuses. Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce says it would impede medical research.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the move puts two strong GOP allies — the business lobby and the anti-abortion coalition — at odds.

But the bill’s sponsors expressed their confidence the bill will become law, even without the support of WMC.

The bill would let researchers use tissue from fetuses aborted before Jan. 1, but not later.
