More than 4.2 million workers will be able to receive overtime after the feds expanded rules that increased the annual salary threshold at which companies can deny overtime from $23,660 to $47,500.

Proponents say it’s essentially a wage increase for the middle class. Business opponents disagree, saying it could force some companies to cut hours or staff to stay on budget.
